Who We Are
Welcome! We’re Ray and Angela – a Michigan married couple with a deep love for travel, food, sports, and of course, bourbon. Michigan is our home base where we both have full-time jobs. We’re millennials – don’t hold that against us. Being able to travel is important to us, so we work hard to budget for it. It is our goal to share the details of our incredible domestic and international experiences through this travel blog. We also aim to produce some transparent content about how we experience all the things that we do.

We always seek out the best local food and drinks, we often travel for sporting events, and we maintain a good mix of visiting new places and repeatedly going back to the places we love (like South Africa – we’ve both lived here, visited here, and we even honeymooned here).
Why did you start a travel blog?
To be completely honest, we have such wonderful life together and we want to share that with others. The world needs more joy, and that joy needs to be accessible to more people. So here we are.
One of us finished graduate school with a lot of student debt, and we have a mortgage, bills, and car payments. Yet, we travel and we do it often. We want this travel blog to show how feasible it is for many people to share in some of the experiences we have had. It does require budgeting, but even with significantly over paying on the student loans, staying out of credit card debt, and paying all of our bills – we are still able to travel. There is no hidden factor, we have reasonable salaries and no extra income. You can do this too.
What’s with the name?
As much as we love traveling, sometimes it just gets a little overwhelming. Things don’t always go as planned, and it is easy to get frustrated with your travel companion(s). Our solution: the bourbon break. Anyone can call “bourbon break” at any time and the procedure is: an immediate stop at the next establishment that sells alcohol, everyone sits down for a drink, and we reset.
We hope you enjoy our travels and tips, and if nothing else, we strongly encourage you to institute the bourbon break in all your future travels.
