Best Craft Bourbon Distillery in Kentucky

I’ll be the first to admit, going to a new-age, craft bourbon distillery for the first time, I had my reservations. Bourbon has a deep, rich history in Kentucky. Most bourbon distilleries trace their roots back several generations, trading secret family recipes down the line. So when there is a new player in town, most folks take a “wait and see” approach. We decided to take a detour from the traditional, big name bourbon brands and hop on the Craft Bourbon Trail for once. We made this decision mostly out of convenience and an urge to venture off the beaten path.

Horse Betting Basics at Keeneland

In Kentucky, waking up for a race day at Keeneland is comparable to waking up on your birthday or Christmas morning. You are filled with excitement and anxiousness as you start your day. These feelings continue to heighten as you drive in and find your spot to tailgate. With the tailgate popped open and a cold drink in your hand, you truly start to realize the magnificent spectacle Keeneland really is. Thousands and thousands of locals and tourists, young and old,  dressed in their Sunday best, ready to take on a full day of horse racing. You really can’t beat this atmosphere! We go to Keeneland about twice a year, so in this post we are going to give you some horse betting basics to get you started.

October in Lexington, KY: Bourbon, Horses and Football

There are few things as wonderful as an October weekend in Lexington, Kentucky, with beautiful weather, horse racing, SEC football, and plenty of bourbon. You have probably gathered by now that we love bourbon, but what you may not know is that I (Angela) went to the University of Kentucky for undergrad. For all you sports fans, that means I am not fun to be around during basketball season. But that also means I have a unique perspective on all the best things to do in Lexington, and when to do them. Over the past few years, we have nailed down a strategic timeline of our visits to Lexington each year. We make the trip in October, January, and April – and we will be highlighting our October trip in this post.
